Mason RossTo some, new media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, and etc. are sites to share their personal opinions and pictures of their day. But, for others, it is a way to do business and become wealthy. That is what entrepreneur, Tai Lopez did, and young entrepreneur, Peyton Petersen is hoping to do. In my first and second blog, I explained why platforms, YouTube and Snapchat, were great ways for businesses to use to market to their customers, and in my previous blog post, I showed you how the successful and mouthwatering ice cream company, Ben & Jerry’s, was using Instagram to market to their customers. Now, I am going to show you how Tai Lopez went from being poor to being worth millions of dollars, by mastering new media marketing and taking advantage everyone being glued to new media platforms, and how young, brilliant, Peyton Petersen is starting up his own media marketing company. Tai Lopez was a normal man just trying to figure out how to achieve a successful life. He went to his grandfather for advice, and was told that you will never find all the answers from one man, so he sent him boxes full of books and said, “Start here”. He is a college dropout and found himself using Facebook when it was not popular. He saw something in Facebook that he thought he could exploit. Tai was one of the first people to use Facebook it organically and for paid marketing. He thinks new media platforms are so powerful because they are so pervasive in our everyday lives. New media will continue to influence how humans behave. Everywhere you go, people are on their mobile devices checking out Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube, and all of the other platforms. So, what does Tai Lopez actually do? Tai Lopez will go to businesses that are not marketing through new media well or at all, and will present to them what he would do. He takes over or creates companies new media pages and creates content that the audience will feel engagement. By having a strong new media platforms, companies can create that personable feeling with their customers. With Tai Lopez’s success on marketing other companies, he now owns his own company, which is sharing his wisdom of new media marketing. His success shows through his numbers. His favorite platform is YouTube, and he has been extremely successful on it. He has had people watch 635 MILLION minutes on his YouTube videos. He has close to one million followers on Twitter, and over two million followers on Instagram. Because of his fame, he does a lot of his marketing on Snapchat and YouTube. With him being so popular, he uses his Snapchat to market other company’s products. He will have giveaways of MacBook Airs, Yeezy shoes, and other expensive products. Since Apple and Adidas are not paying him, this is free marketing for those companies. He is using is “fame” to market. In his videos, he really captures the aspect of involvement with his viewers. He is talking to the audience, as if they are right there. Tai Lopez was one of the “inventors”, if you will, of new media marketing. So, Tai Lopez is the icon of new media marketing, and now I am going to talk about how a small marketing company can get to Tai’s level. Peyton Petersen, young entrepreneur, is the owner and founder of JPR Branding, currently, a small new media marketing company. I was fortunate enough for Peyton to take a break out of his busy day, and answer some questions about new media marketing. Coincidentally, Tai Lopez influenced Peyton Petersen to join the new media marketing field. At only 21 years old, Peyton noticed that a lot of companies were not taking advantage of media platforms, and believed he could master it and start his own company. After countless hours of research, his “go-to” platform, is Facebook. Peyton Petersen says, “I️ feel that Facebook is overall the best platform to market on for social media. it has the most amount of users and it also has the widest demographic plus its best for hyper-targeted advertisements.” He believes that the new media marketing is better than marketing before because you can reach more people than a regular advertisement, for a lot less money. Peyton thinks new media marketing is something that all businesses, whether they are a fortune 500 companies or small family owned companies, should be doing. The reason why companies do not do it is because it is time consuming. And that is where Peyton Petersen comes in. He reaches out to the business owner, and if they are interested in hearing him out, he will run a “social media audit”. A social media audit explains how is going to target their customers through each and different platform, and as I have stated in my previous blogs, each platform has a different advantage on how to reach people. Peyton has mastered what content to put on different platforms. When it comes to Instagram, you will see pictures with not a lot of text, but if you go and check out JPR Branding’s Facebook page, you will see visuals, but more text because Facebook is more known for instructions and getting information out. JPR Branding has had success, while only being in business for six months. They already have four clients, and is in communications with another. Marketing has vastly changed. It has come to new media marketing and marketing on multiple different platforms. It has changed from just companies doing it themselves, to now having individuals do it for them, so they can focus on the business.
